Ron Ofer – Director and Scriptwriter
Ron Ofer has worked as an independent director and screenwriter since graduating from the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem in 1998. His final project, a fictional, short-film, "A Candy from a Stranger", was screened at the Venice Film Festival as well as other festivals around the world. Ron has been scriptwriter on a series of six documentary films directed by Nissim Mossek. Together, he and Mossek received a citation for the film "Citizen Nawi" as part of the Wolgin Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, 2007.
In addition to working as a director and scriptwriter, Ron has been using filmmaking as a bridge for people with special needs. He has worked with 'At Risk' adolescents in a rehabilitation high school program for teen drop-outs, as well as in a juvenile psychiatric ward. Ron Ofer’s previous documentary "After All You Are Just a Guest" also focuses on the Jewish Ultra Orthodox community; documenting the annual Hassidic pilgrimage to the Ukrainian town of Uman.
Yohai Hakak - Director and Scriptwriter
Anthropologist, Yohai Hakak, was trained as a social worker in Israel and the US. He has been a practicing mental health worker in Israel while concurrently, working as a journalist, reporting on religious communities in Israel. His doctoral dissertation (from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem) combined his interest in religion with a focus on social work. Yohai is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Health Studies and Social Work, University of Portsmouth, UK.
Belfilms
Belfilms was founded in 1984 by Katriel and Noemi Schory. Belfilms is one of the leading production houses in Israel, producing drama, documentaries, feature films and commercials, for Israeli and foreign broadcasters, advertising agencies, and international co-productions. Belfilms’ features and documentaries have been screened in the cinema and television throughout the world and at film and television leading festivals. In 2000 Liran Atzmor and Itay Ken-tor joined the company and Katriel went on to be the head of the Israeli Film Fund. In 2008 Liran left the company to be the commissioning editor for channel 8 - the documentary channel of Noga communication. Since then the company is run by Noemi Schory and Itay Ken-tor. Belfilms
